Would you rub toxins onto your baby’s skin? No, I bet you wouldn’t. But where is the difference between your baby’s skin and your own? Why do you (and many others) take less care and use products containing ingredients that can be harmful for your skin? This article aims to give you some real tips for healthy skin, pointers towards keeping your precious skin in tip top form without exposing it to real danger. So read on to find out how.

I’d like to say a few words about skin to start off. It’s classed as the largest organ in your body and spends its time both absorbing and expelling things. Every time your body reckons you need to get rid of toxins, they can be sweated out through the pores in your skin. This is also a way of regulating your body temperature, as sweating helps to cool your body down. Anything that penetrates your skin goes into the bloodstream and gets delivered to some part of your body to be used there and so one of my first tips for healthy skin is to be really mindful of what you rub into it.<

How often do you take the time to stop and read labels for lists of ingredients? Manufacturers have to declare on the packaging what they have included in the product that you have bought. They appear in descending order and often include what percentage they make up. You need to watch out for the chemicals that are unhealthy and cause damage your health, as well as the ingredients that can irritate your skin and cause reactions. This includes all sorts of perfumes as well as additives that are in there to prolong the shelf life of your product. These are called parabens and come in many forms.

Another one of my tips for healthy skin concerns the epidermis, which is the topmost layer of your skin. This plays a vital role in protecting your body from infection as well as waterproofing it. To do this, it is equipped with body natural oil called sebum which is essential for your skin to function properly. If you use products on your skin that have harsh chemicals in them, then the sebum gets stripped out and your skin is left struggling to cope. This also means that your skin gets very dried out.

The next of my tips for healthy skin is about cigarettes. It is generally agreed that smoking can damage your health and cause lung cancer whether or not you are an active or passive smoker. But in addition to this, smoking is very detrimental to your skin. It constricts the flow of blood and nutrients to your skin. When your skin is not properly oxygenated, it takes on a bluish tone.

This leads quite naturally into the next topic I wanted to mention. Did you know that when you take regular exercise, this greatly improves your circulation and this can enhance the look and feel of your skin, giving you a healthy, younger appearance. This is really one of the best tips for healthy skin I know. A quick jog for 20 minutes or a brisk walk before you start work can make all the difference to your skin as well as strengthening your heart and joints.

Remember too to keep drinking lots of healthy, fresh water to optimally hydrate both your skin and whole body. Ideally you should be getting around 6 – 8 glasses of water a day.

And finally, do remember a well-balanced diet. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables can go a long way to keeping your body vital and healthy. It’s a fact that the soil on our planet no longer contains the nutrients it once did, so maybe one more reason to consider trying out organic produce for increased nutrients.

The last of my tips for healthy skin comes is to use a good moisturiser. If I may, I’d like to make a recommendation to you. I have discovered a brilliant skin care range which is filled with natural ingredients and has been scientifically proven to stimulate the skin’s production of collagen and elastin which are key for a wrinkle-free skin. These products all encourage prolific skin cell growth.
